Mom and Dad,
Although you support my second major, Public Relations, I though it would be important to explain to you what it is. People who work in public relations generally have one key role- to control the flow of information between an organization and its public(s).
Now, some may say that this can be interpreted as "spinning" or telling only part truths. However, good PR professionals are always honest and open with their publics, and never lie. They also never make assumptions.
For example, PR practitioners who are spokespeople are asked a lot of questions at press conferences. If there is a question asked that they do not know the answer to, they would never make something up. Instead, they would say that they will let the public know when they have more information, or that they will get the information.
I recommend that you talk to me if you have other questions. Thanks!
-Ashley
