Britney: For the Record ..... Good or Bad PR?

If you have watched MTV or ABC lately you have probably heard a lot about Britney Spears. A documentary, morning special on Good Morning America, new album, her birthday and so on. For a celebrity that has had so much bad publicity and public involvement in her private life in the past few years, it is interesting to see her putting everything "on the record" for MTV and the public. After watching her special I realized that this was a great PR move for the singer. Just as most people have their set opinions about her, she allowed cameras to follow her and tell her side of the story. I think that it made her appear more real to her fans and maybe even made people feel bad for what she has to deal with on a daily basis. For someone who is making a comeback, she sure is doing a good job of getting a lot of attention!

I completely agree... I watched some of the special on her and it made me sympathize with all of the things she goes through on a daily basis and how stressful of a life she leads. I think it was a great PR move and it definitely put her in a better light than she has been in for the past few years.

This is definitely an interesting move for Britney. She surely needed to persuade the pulic's opinion of her and this was a successful move. I would love to know who her PR people are.

I completely agree. I watched the special on her, and it definitely made me feel for her. After her crazy year I think it is great she is finally giving the public her side of the story.

It is interesting that she is choosing to come back out into the public eye. Hopefully it works in her favor this time!

I agree, I thought this was a great PR move. Her people couldn't have planned it any better. The timing of everything is perfect. This generated a lot of buzz about her new C.D. and such as well as got people interested in seeing what this new and improved Britney is like. I know many of my friends tuned in to watch it, thus getting them interested in her next ccareer move. Also, I thought it was interesting they keep replaying it...I'm wonder if that is not a good idea, because people may get sick of hearing it.

I agree! I couldn't tell you the number of times I heard people talk about how they couldn't wait to watch the documentary (I personally couldn't help but look forward to it). Given all the negative PR she received over the past few years, I think this was a great move on her part. She gave fans (and other viewers) an opportunity to truly understand the struggles she faced and connect with her audience on a more personal level.

I aggree! Although MTV did not get the ratings they wanted from "Britney: For the Record" I feel that overall it was a great idea and gave great PR for Britney. This show was a treat for Britney fans (like myself) and also let the those non-fans see a different side of her and possibly sympathize with her.
