In my Advertising/Public Relations Writing class we were assigned to create a Twitter account and update it twice daily as well as respond to one of our classmates updates once per day. This was to take place for two weeks and then we would write a brief response to the activity. So here it is..:
I do not like the idea that social media networks are taking away from people's real life experiences. The days of going for walks or meeting friends for face to face discussions are over. Though many may argue that you can have this same interaction through online forums, like Twitter for example, I still believe something is inherently missing online.
I enjoyed becoming aware of the "Twitter world." I never want to fall to a place where I am unaware of the venues of communication available. I enjoy learning advances in social media and hope to continue learning. I do not think that two weeks was enough time to convince a disbeliever, like myself, that Twitter has value. Because of this, I am going to continue using and learning from Twitter. Who knows, maybe in a few more weeks I will be praising Twitter... I will keep my mind open for now.
