A lot of people tend to dread reading and writing. However, I am one of those people who would continue to engage in both activities regardless of whether it was required or not. I absolutely love to read, and so the desire to write naturally follows.
I've been writing ever since I've been able to comprehend a language. My parents would sit me down with a pen and paper everyday since I learned how to talk and would encourage me to express anything that was on my mind. That's one of the many things I am really grateful for - the fact that I was lucky enough to have parents who pushed me to write down my thoughts. My father, especially, would encourage me to keep journals/diaries from the age of five. I took my dad's suggestion and kept journals pretty much all of my life. It's funny now when I look back at all those journal entries from my childhood. Although they may not even make sense to me now, I was glad that I was pushed towards creative writing. I think I've become a better writer because of it. My dad says I will also be grateful for it when I grow old and I will be able to look back at my life because I was smart enough to write down my most cherished moments.
So ever since then, I've developed a strong passion for writing. As a matter of fact, my dad is now encouraging me to write a novel. I would love to do something like that one day - if I ever get the time and patience, of course. Until then, I will continue filling my journal with my thoughts, concerns, ideas, and things that nobody will understand about my life but the pages I write in.
